The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH) is a major comprehensive public hospital built by the Shenzhen municipal government with introduction of modern management model by the University of Hong Kong. At a total capital cost of about 4 billion Yuan, the hospital has a total floor area of 367,000 square meters situated on 192,000 square meters of land. With 2000 beds currently in operation, the Hospital has already commenced its second-phase expansion project to increase the total bed complement to 3000 beds in accordance with government planning.
Shenzhen Second People's Hospital (the First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University) was founded in 1980, and was established as a national "third-class A" hospital in 1996. It is one of the first two "third-class A" hospitals in Shenzhen. In 2008, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and became the "First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University". In 2017, led the establishment of Shenzhen's first "community health center - district hospital - Municipal hospital" hierarchical diagnosis and treatment and three-level linkage compact medical alliance - Shenzhen Dapeng New District Medical Health Group; In 2018, it was selected as the key construction unit of high-level Hospital in Guangdong Province; In 2019, Shenzhen Translational Medicine Research Institute was established based on the hospital to create a resource sharing and service platform for translational medicine research in the city; In 2022, the Medical Innovation Technology Transformation Center of Shenzhen Second People's Hospital will be established in Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone; In the same year, it was selected as a demonstration hospital for public hospital reform and high-quality development in Guangdong Province. From 2018 to 2022, it has been rated A+ in the performance assessment of national third-level public hospitals for five consecutive years, and ranked 70th in the country in 2022, ranking firmly in the top 100 in the country.
Shenzhen People's Hospital was founded in 1946, the predecessor of Baoan County Health Center, after the founding of the People's Republic of China renamed Baoan County People's Hospital, also known as the "Department of medical care", in 1979 renamed Shenzhen People's Hospital. In 1994, it was rated as the first "third-class A" hospital in Shenzhen. In 1996, it was approved by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council to become the Second Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University School of Medicine. In 2005, it was upgraded to the Second Clinical Medical School of Jinan University. At present, the hospital has a total of hospital headquarters, Longhua Branch, Sakata Hospital area, a clinic and Dapeng Translational Medicine Collaborative Innovation Center, and has developed into a modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical teaching and research with complete functions, advanced equipment, reasonable talent structure and strong technical force.
Peking University Shenzhen Hospital (PKU) is a modern, grade-A comprehensive public hospital invested by Shenzhen Municipal Government, integrating medical treatment, scientific research and teaching. The hospital is located in the central district of Futian, built and opened at the end of 1999, formerly known as "Shenzhen Central Hospital", in October 2000, Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and Peking University signed a cooperation agreement, the first close cooperation between hospitals and schools in China, the hospital was incorporated into the management system of Peking University affiliated hospitals, and was renamed "Peking University Shenzhen Hospital". The hospital covers an area of 59,000 square meters, with a total construction area of nearly 220,000 square meters. It is a non-walled hospital with "zero parking" on the ground. In the performance assessment of national tertiary public hospitals, the hospital has ranked among the national top 100 for five consecutive years (ranked 61st in 2018; 59th place in 2019; The 63rd place in 2020; 53rd place in 2021; 38th in 2022), earning an A+ grade.
